This video was made using a single 56 second clip, sliced ad copied and repeatedly overlaid on 19 layers, with four repeating images of clouds in the background. The clip which had a green screen in the back ground was chromakeyed out allowing for the desired effect. The audio was appropriated and mixed in audacity, with the sources coming from the archive.org.
The representation of an intimate space, a space that was not mine, but a place that held memories and served as the background for the stories that were observed. Over the course of the year, the living room was a place that allowed for the watching of movies and TV shows. Like the room itself the walls and floors served as a backdrop for the films, and so do they here allowing for the display of the synopsis of he films watched over the past year.
Maps come in all shapes and sizes, some lead to a destination and others lead to treasure. A recipe is a type of map, that lead not to a place – unless something burns, in which case it may lead to takeout – but to an end resulting in deliciousness. By using a digital camera mounted on a tripod and connected to a remote shutter release and Adobe Photoshop, the movement of a physical space was photographed at each stage of the recipe was carried out. The images were then overlapped to produce a chronographic map of the recipes production in the kitchen space.

Over the course of the semester my ides about what constitutes art has been broadened. Prior to this class when discussing my major, the description of my work was very simple. Now i can honestly give the most unsatisfying answer to the question “what kind of art do you do?”, the answer being a little bit of everything. I can paint with robots and a computer, sculpt in plaster and plastic using a 3D printer, and i can compose and infinitely large graphic. with the exposure of the assignments there is very little i can not do in the advancing world of art.
in the First assignment, for me, was about the conceptualization of design and interaction.
The second was about broadening my ideas about the presentation and the visibility of art.
The second half of the class became less conceptualization and became more about the ways technology has changed and how its becoming more practical to apply to the arts, and how to manipulate those new techs. so that i can have a basic understanding of how they work.
